Solina Group to acquire Butchers Division from Intertaste Group (NL)


Solina Group (“Solina”) has completed the acquisition of “ Degens” the Butchers Division of Intertaste Group in the Netherlands. The current Management Team of Degens will stay in the Company, joining Solina.

Degens is a very well-known and recognized business of ingredients and culinary solutions for Butchers in the Netherlands
and in Belgium. The Division benefits from a strong position in its two core countries, being known notably for the quality of its product portfolio.

Degens has a turnover of €6 m and 14 employees who will join Solina’s premises in the Benelux.

Laurent Weber, CEO, Solina Group, said: “The Butchers Division of Intertaste is highly recognized for its products quality and its service-oriented approach. Degens is a perfect complement to our existing ‘Butchers Specialized Business in France, Belgium and Denmark - This is our Group ambition to create a leadership position for the butcher end-market in Europe”.

Maarten Baardse, CEO of Intertaste, said: “Degens is a very well-known and respected brand in the artisanal fresh meat, fish and vegetables market with a heritage going back to 1930. Over the past few years Degens has shown a strong performance in sales development. However, we think that consolidation is required in this market to be successful in the long term. That’s why we have decided to sell Degens to Solina, where it will be part of a larger group focused on this segment. We are convinced
that Degens will make a strong contribution to Solina and that Degens will profit from the existing know-how and market position of Solina”.

Philippe Merlin, Solina Group Food Service Director said: “Such a combination will trigger interesting synergies, and this acquisition will help us to consolidate our leadership in Belgium, as well as taking a strong position in the Netherlands butcher market. The new group will also be beneficial for Degens” customers as they will benefit from Solina’s outstanding
level of service and innovation already delivered to our 12,000 existing customers in France , Belgium and Denmark.”

“Solina currently expands in Europe within its three core areas: Service to the Savoury Industry, Service to the Food Service and Butchers and Development of nutritional concepts. The Intertaste Butchers Division presents a great complementarity and Market access for us. The group offers the widest range of specialized products and solutions in savoury businesses in Europe”, added Laurent Weber.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the transaction value.
